You wake up to a day filled with possibility.
There are an infinite amount of potentials you could fulfill, and for a brief moment, the excitement of it all comes pouring through your mind.
But then everything changes.
In a flash, the wonders of possibility turn to the heavy shadows of impending doom.
What will go wrong?
How will I screw this day up?
What should I be worried about?
Suddenly you have a pit in your stomach, and it’s deep.
Everything that could go wrong probably will, you think to yourself. And there starts the cascade of negative thoughts.
One after another, these fear-based thoughts are usually unrealistic, and likely not going to occur, but don’t tell your brain that! It won’t listen. It wants what it wants, and right now it wants to flood your psyche with worries and fears that at times are unbearable.
Throughout the day you are gasping for air, barely hanging on.
That punch in your gut feeling hits you many times over.
But somehow you keep getting back up, keep standing tall.
I’m not sure how you do it. Battling this hidden enemy in the face of your everyday life can seem overwhelming at times. But you continue to push forward.
You seek out help, even when it’s scary.
On days when it’s even darker than usual, you find a way to keep going.
Do you understand how amazing you truly are?
To persevere in the face of such anxiety is nothing short of inspiring.
You should be proud of how far you’ve come.
The battles you’ve faced and conquered
But now it’s time to alter your perspective.
To no longer allow the fear and worry to outshine the hope and joy that.
The first step is becoming mindful and aware of where you currently are – the struggles you face.
Seek out the good in your life – gratitude is a powerful force.
Never underestimate the power within yourself, or your power to overcome.
Hold onto hope, even though the darkness of your anxious mind.
And keep going – whatever you do – just keep going.
The path may be filled with bumps, potholes, and curves…but the view at the end is worth it.
