You will make it through this.
I promise.
Life may seem overwhelming and hopeless, but you must keep moving forward.
I’m not here to judge or criticize you; I’m here to help, and I’m here to listen.
I notice that at times you become so immersed in the darkness that you hardly acknowledge me.
Do you feel like I am no longer around?
Like I abandoned you?
I wish you would take a step back to appreciate how far you’ve come.
You’re a fighter and an inspiration.
YOU’RE NOT ALONE
There are many others in the same boat, struggling, barely holding on. Be sure not to lose your connection to the humanity around you. Don’t become too timid or apathetic – reach out for help.
Remember that you’re human; you’re imperfectly perfect.
Share your journey, share your story. You never know who you may help in the process. You never know the impact you may have on others and how helping them heal will also help you improve.
Don’t forget the power you wield.
You have the tools to overcome this. You just need a little reminding.
I know, I know, you’re probably rolling your eyes right about now; here come the cliches, blind optimism, and empty platitudes. I’m not here to bullshit you. The road to becoming mentally and emotionally healthy is beyond exhausting, and it will be the most significant single challenge of your life. It will take every ounce of your willpower to make the healthier version of you a reality. You’re going to have to work extremely hard for this. Some days will be easier than others. The key is finding a level of consistency and being persistently consistent.
You’ll find the answers if you keep moving forward.
I STILL SEE YOU
It’s dark where you are.
Some days I’m not sure how you manage to see through it. I’ve been watching you struggle all these years, wondering how on earth you gather the strength to keep fighting. Your perseverance through the thick layers of pain and endless sea of unknowns is astounding.
You amaze me.
I should probably remind you of that more often.
But I, like you, get caught up in the drama, the negativity, the “easy ways” out.
It takes so much energy to change your thought patterns and elevate your emotions.
There are times I can see it in your eyes – you’re exhausted and beaten down.
I hate seeing you like that.
It makes me sad, and it also makes me angry.
Why do you have to go through this? What is the reason? What is the purpose?
THE FUNDAMENTALS
There comes a point when you need to go back to the basics.
The fundamentals of life – the first of which is gratitude.
You tend to forget all of the incredible people, fun memories, and unlimited potentials that exist.
You forget to enjoy the little things, the beautiful cry of a newborn, a summer sunset on the lake, the sound of the birds waking each other up every morning, or the laughter of friends around a bonfire.
It’s time to reflect on all of them.
Let gratitude carry you through the muddy waters.
And let’s not forget mindfulness – the ultimate awareness.
Be mindful of your thought patterns, your daily habits, your routines, and ask yourself this critical question: are they healthily serving you?
If the answer is no – then you need to change them.
And lastly, and most difficult of all – loving yourself.
This part is so hard.
If you treated yourself like you would treat your friends and family suffering from the same, you’d be a different person with a different mindset. There is no selfishness in being kind to yourself. It’s the only way you will fully mend.
I have faith in you. I’m here for you. And I love you.
You will make it through this.
I promise.
