This blog is a long time coming.
But before I get into the details of why I started Upplifter – let’s talk about life for a second.
Life can be a crazy journey.
People will let you down.
Challenges will arise.
And your personal development will be in constant flux.
All of this can cause pain.
And whether it be physical, emotional, or mental, pain can lead to unwanted suffering, anxiety, depression, disease, and even suicide.
Pain is widespread in every walk of life, near and far. It does not differentiate between the color of your skin, nor does it care about your religious or political affiliations. Pain is a monster that attacks us all, and its roots are deep in the human experience.
But maybe the pain is only one puzzle piece to a bigger picture.
How Can Pain Be A Good Thing?
Pain teaches us many lessons. And if dealt with in a healthy manner, it can be an extremely beneficial tool for our personal growth.
Ever since my childhood, I’ve had a burning desire to learn and grow from my painful experiences. That desire turned into a need to take full responsibility for my life, the good and the not so good.
This desire and need to constantly learn and grow is why I decided to create Upplifter.
But I didn’t just do this for myself. I did it for you, the reader. I wanted to share what I’ve learned, and I also want to keep on learning, keep on growing, and spread as much wisdom and knowledge to as many people as I can about managing pain and creating the life you want for yourself.
Helping others is extremely important to me.
The Roots Take Form
Upplifter started as an idea that stemmed from dealing with years of emotional pain, endless anxiety, and various adversities. Anxiety was a biggie for me. In fact, I still struggle with it daily.
Dealing with my anxiety lead me to personal development. I hadn’t a clue what personal development even was ten years ago. And I certainly never thought of blogging about it. But as I grew older, I began to research, study, and deconstruct ways of improving myself in all areas of life. And the more I immersed myself into this journey of personal development and self-healing, the more people around me kept coming to me with questions:
How do I better manage my anxiety?
When will I find the “right” person and fall in love?
How do I get the courage to start a business?
What are some good time-management tips?
How the heck does one meditate?
How do you manage depression?
What is mindfulness?
What are some practical techniques to make me more productive?
After years of getting these types of questions, that is when I knew I needed to share what I have learned and experienced, but also keep on doing the dirty work and researching and finding the answers to these questions that so many people around me had (including myself).
I have dealt with some darkness in my life; suicide, bullying, anxiety, depression.
But it wasn’t until I started talking about my trials and tribulations with other people that I began to realize that everyone goes through dark times, even if they don’t always discuss it.
We are all on this journey together. We can accomplish a lot more than we believe, and the most feasible way to achieve this is to work on making ourselves better every day. Try new techniques, spread ideas, acquire knowledge, and practice what we preach.
But that isn’t always easy.
From Novice To Upplifter
Long before Upplifter, I started my first blog back in 2013. It dealt mostly with funny anecdotes, music, sports, and personal stories about friends and family who had passed away. Although I received a fair amount of views and quality feedback, there was never a defined theme. So it was a hodgepodge of sorts. And I only wrote a post every three or four months, not as often as I would’ve liked. I knew that I needed to take this new blog to the next level. That’s when I started thinking of making a themed blog based on my desire to learn and grow. I also wanted to help others with their personal development and mental health, specifically anxiety and depression.
So here we are – the beginning of what I hope will be a valuable asset for all of you reading.
We have the power to change ourselves, and in doing so, change the reality of the world in which we live.
I hope Upplifter, in some small way, can be a part of your personal development and your upward climb to peace and prosperity.
We all can achieve so much more as a human race, but first, we must look into the mirror and ask: how can I improve myself today?
